The 65 is the Mustang in its purest form. It has the long bonnet, the short rear deck, the triple-bar tail lights and a simple, upright cabin. The black and grey colour scheme keeps the focus on the shape. It still looks right in a modern car park, and it gets a second look from people who dont know cars.

Under the bonnet has been upgraded to the 302 cubic inch V8, the small-block that made the early Mustang popular. Its power is easy and relaxed, with a smooth V8 rumble and strong low-down torque. The layout is one mechanics have understood for decades. Parts support is excellent, and the car is simple enough that a competent owner can look after most of it themselves.
