One of only 30 ever built by Holden New Zealand with Peter & Phil Brock for the 1982 -1983 Benson & Hedges Saloon Car Series a genuine competition-bred classic and a cornerstone of kiwi performance heritage!

This isnt just any VH Commodore its one of the ultra-rare SS examples commissioned for racing, hand-built in tandem with legendary racing icon Peter Brock and his brother Phil, specifically to homologate and compete in the Benson & Hedges Saloon Car Series.

Award-winning and coveted by collectors, this car represents a unique intersection of factory performance, NZ motorsport history and Brock family involvement.

RARITY & HERITAGE

One of only 30 VH Commodore SS cars built by Holden NZ for touring car competition.

Built under the direct influence of Peter & Phil Brock for the 198283 Benson & Hedges Saloon Car Series.

A celebrated and rare survivor with documented provenance widely recognised as one of the rarest New Zealandbuilt Holdens ever made.

These cars were more than production specials they were competition tools that helped elevate NZ touring car racing and gave Kiwi drivers a real chance against tougher international and Australian opposition.

PERFORMANCE CHECKED

Engine: L31 5.0L (308ci) Holden V8 the big-valve powerhouse that defined VH performance.

Transmission: M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual period correct and highly desirable.

Differential: GM 10-bolt with 3.08 LSD performance gearing perfect for both road and circuit use.

These components were selected to maximise power delivery, traction and race performance giving this VH SS a commanding presence whether on track or on your driveway.

HISTORIC CONTEXT

Unlike regular factory VH Commodores of the era, these SS specials were produced under racing homologation rules, meaning a minimum number had to be built locally to qualify for competition. Holden NZ rose to the challenge, assembling these cars at their Trentham plant with Brock oversight making them truly unique NZ-built performance Holdens.

COLLECTOR & AUCTION APPEAL

Extremely low production count just 30 ever built.

Strong, documented historical association with Peter & Phil Brock.

Genuine period drivetrain and performance specification.

This example has been recognised at historic events and has earned awards in classic car shows, proving its desirability and presence.

Values for cars like this can range significantly, especially when provenance is documented with some Brock-connected VH Commodores reaching collector-grade prices.
