The GTO and the GTS distinguished by both performance and styling. The GTO came fitted with a 255 kW (342 hp) Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine, while the flagship GTS featured a Callaway-tuned C4B V8 producing 300 kW (402 hp). The GTS had a modified version purpose-built for HSV by the legendary American engine builder/tuner Reeves Callaway, coupled to the six speed manual transmission.

On the outside, the GTS set itself apart with contrasting colour accents on the bumpers and side skirts, giving it a more distinctive and aggressive appearance.
