Theres rare and then theres something you simply dont see in New Zealand. This 2012 Cadillac CTS-V is one of those cars. A modern American muscle icon with proper hot-rod DNA, wrapped in stealthy black on black and showing just 44,283 kilometres this is the kind of machine that stops conversations mid-sentence.
Born from Cadillacs performance renaissance, the second-generation Cadillac CTS-V took the fight straight to Europes finest and won plenty of respect doing it. Under the bonnet lives a snarling 6.2-litre supercharged V8, the legendary LSA, punching out an earth-moving 556 horsepower. Its the same brutal, old-school pushrod formula that hot rodders have loved for decades just sharpened, supercharged, and engineered to run with the worlds best. The whine of the blower layered over that deep American V8 rumble is pure theatre.
Put your foot down and youll understand why these cars earned global attention. Zero to 100 km/h disappears in a blink, yet it cruises with the kind of composure youd expect from a luxury performance sedan. Massive Brembo brakes, magnetic ride control, and a chassis tuned at the Nürburgring mean this isnt just straight-line muscle its a seriously capable drivers car.
Finished in menacing black over a black performance interior, it has the presence of a street fighter in a tailored suit. It doesnt shout it looms. At Beach Hop, surrounded by chrome and classics, this CTS-V will stand apart as the modern interpretation of everything hot rodding stands for: big power, bold attitude, and unapologetic American character.
With just 44,283 km on the clock, this example sits in that sweet spot low kilometre, tightly presented, and incredibly hard to find on Kiwi roads. They were rare here when new, and even rarer now in this condition.
