This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie Convertible is an exceptional example of one of the most desirable early Corvettes ever produced. Finished in its original and striking Tuxedo Black with Silver Coves, over a red interior, the car is supplied with both a black soft top and factory black hardtop, presenting as a true top-tier C1 Corvette.
Under the bonnet sits its correct and highly sought-after 283ci fuel-injected V8, producing 315 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This specification places the car among the most collectible Corvettes of the era, with just 1,462 fuel-injected (315hp) examples built for the 1961 model year. The car is further equipped with Positraction, a signal-seeking AM radio, and period-correct whitewall tyres (6.70-15).
The Corvette underwent a complete frame-off restoration in spring 1991 and has been meticulously cared for since, remaining garage-kept and covering approximately 10,000 miles since restoration. The car presents in near-mint condition throughout, reflecting both the quality of the restoration and the careful ownership that followed.
Importantly, this example is highly documented and correctly detailed, including engine code F0412CS (Flint-built, April 12, 283- 315hp fuel-injected manual), VIN 10867S107734,
The car is also a proven show and concours performer, with an impressive award history including:
1998 AACA Grand National 3rd Place (Cherry Hill, NJ)
1995 AACA Senior National 1st Place (Hagerstown, MD)
1993 Best GM in Show, 1st Place (Delhi, NY)
2004 Best Engine Compartment Award (Horseheads)
Rare, beautifully presented, and extensively awarded, this 1961 Corvette Fuelie represents a blue - chip American collectible, equally suited to concours display, investment-grade collection, or careful enjoyment.
